What to include in a notice
- Your name, reliable contact details and the rights holder you represent.
- A description of the copyrighted work and, where available, a location of an authorized version.
- The specific URL of each allegedly infringing item on this website.
- A statement that you reasonably believe the disputed use lacks permission from the owner, their agent or the law.
- A statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Include a mailing address in the additional information field if it is needed for your notice. Do not submit unnecessary sensitive information. Notice details may be shared with the person responsible for the disputed content when needed to process the claim or comply with law.
Review and counter-notices
We review sufficiently detailed reports promptly and may remove or restrict disputed material while the matter is reviewed. A person who believes removal resulted from an error may contact us about a counter-notice. A valid counter-notice generally identifies the removed material and its former location, includes contact information and a signature, states under penalty of perjury a belief that removal was mistaken, and includes the jurisdiction and service-of-process statements required by US law.
Where the statutory counter-notice process applies, reinstatement ordinarily occurs within 10–14 business days after receipt of a valid counter-notice unless the rights holder reports filing a qualifying court action. Knowingly making a material false claim can have legal consequences. This page does not promise that every dispute qualifies for a statutory safe harbor.
